Unable to lift your arm above your head? Pain when you need to do every day activities? Can’t play the sport your love because of your shoulder pain?
We don’t realise how important our shoulders are until something goes wrong. We all take our shoulders for granted.
The shoulder has a very unique design. This design allows for a lot of movement in different directions. However, it sacrifices stability in order to do so. This makes the shoulder one of the most frequently injured joints of the body.
How does shoulder pain start?
The shoulder may seem like a simple joint however, it is actually a very complicated series of movements from four different joints. Any disruption or failure in any of these four joints can result in imbalances, pain and dysfunction.
The most common way these joints can breakdown are direct trauma from sporting activities or repetitive use. In others, dysfunction in associated areas such as the neck or the jaw can also disrupt how the shoulder functions.
How can we help you?
The primary goal in helping you is to decipher the primary source of dysfunction. In better words, which of the 4 joints is not doing their job.
We often find many shoulder problems are just a result of muscle imbalances and changes in firing sequence. This results in pain and inflammation and quite often are simple to fix.
